Summer Snow is a collection of new poems (his first in ten years) by Pulitzer Prize-winner and former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Hass. Hass has a comprehensive knowledge of literature, history, and other subjects and displays it in this collection. There’s a lot of California landscapes (he was born in 1941 in San Francisco and still teaches at UC Berkeley), description generally, memories, and a mature perspective. Hass’s work has been described as a calm and steady meditative gaze. Here’s what LA Times says about this collection:
