This poem appears in my unpublished novel, Coffeetree, a courtroom drama set in Central Kentucky. Although it’s a courtroom drama, there’s a lot of romance in the plot. In the story, a broken-hearted lover recites this poem in moonlight and doesn’t know that the object of her longing is eavesdropping.
