Poems in The Glass Constellation, New and Collected Poems by award-winning Arthur Sze consists of selections from five decades of work with some new poems at the end. I’m a big fan of Sze, so this was a definite purchase for me. Sze’s poems are haiku-ish but intensely tangible, intellectual but non-linear. He draws connections between moments that seem disparate, but somehow, under the power of his eye, truly relate. I’m in awe of what he does and wonder how the poems come to him. It’s also interesting to see the evolution of his work over a period of time. It’s a big book – over 500 pages of great poetry that invites re-reading. Here’s a review from Copper Canyon Press:
