The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida by Shehan Karunatilaka won the 2022 Booker. The narrator is a photographic journalist in Sri Lanka who has just died and is negotiating and afterlife in which one has seven days (or moons) to remain on earth as a ghost before entering the Light.
