The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones is like Tommy Orange meets Stephen King, a horror story (at times with a bit of gore) set in modern Native American community. While the plot circles around four Blackfeet men haunted by an elk, the author alternates point of view among many protagonists (including a 14-year old girl and the elk herself). The author does a wonderful job both creating the relationships between the characters and creating the creepy atmosphere where we, like the characters, are never quite sure what we’re seeing.
