A Spell of Good Things, the second novel by prize-winning Nigerian author Ayobami Adebayo, is the story of two families. Eniola’s family is poor – his father lost his job and they struggle to come up with money for food and rent. Wuraola is the daughter of a wealthy family, a doctor about to marry into another wealthy family. Politics cause their lives to cross with disastrous results. Great story, great characters, and an insightful look at the country in which they live. Here’s what The Guardian says:
