The Beast You Are is a collection of short stories by Paul Tremblay. It’s hard to describe these stories – surreal, horror, fable, magical realism? The title story is a novella in verse. Almost every one of these stories blew me away. It also opens up, for me, alternative ways to tell a short tale. I was inspired. I highly recommend this collection, especially if you’re a short story writer. This book deserves far more attention than it’s getting, but I’m beginning to think the world of literature is kind of a closed club. Here’s what NPR says:
